1st. The "pleat" for the back of the ribbon:Time: 45-150min
~~~
Start off by cutting a piece of your construction paper long ways into two strips measuring 3cm. Next lightly mark on both the strips where 1cm is.
Now, fold the strip in on that mark. Keep folding the strip, accordion style, until you reach the end.
With both of your zig-zag paper, put the end fold of one strip under the other and see if they fit relatively well together. Make sure the other end will fit together too because you'll be connecting them. If they don't, you can always trim the ends or fold a little differently to make it work. Use your hot glue to put both pieces together. Once you've done that, you should have this before and after:
Bring one edge of your soon to be pleat to the center. Now, the edges should be facing out and the zigzags up. Leaving the tiniest hole in the middle, apply the hot glue to the center, making sure to try to get as many of the zigzags touching the glue as possible. Wait for it to dry but continue to hold the pleat so it doesn't lose its shape. Do the same thing to the center of the other side. Set this aside.
2nd. The emblem:
Since my ribbons are somewhere in between 6.5-7cm, I'm making my circle about 4.5cm, which means the compass should be open to half that (2.25cm). Draw out two circles with this radius if you are using the same ratios and cut them out. You may wish to write a message on the emblem, and I would suggest to do that before any glueing.
Next, cut out a 5cm long .3cm wide paper. Using the regular glue stick, glue one end to the other to make a small circle. Don't worry if its a little loose, the hot glue you'll use next will secure it. Place that circle into the center of one of your two other circles. Fill the cavity up with hot glue to the very rim.
For this next part, you may wish to use a small circle to put on top of the glue, because the glue can soak through, and apply the bigger circle on top with regular glue.
However you wish to do it, wait for that to dry then apply it to the top of your pleat using the hot glue gun. Make sure it's all secure. Your end result should be like this:
3rd. The ribbons:
If your still using my proportions, mark on your page four 2cm marks. Mark 6cm vertically and draw in all the lines to make a rectangle divided into four parts. The middle two parts will be your ribbons and the outer two are just for measuring purposes.
In order to have look alike ribbons, place your ruler on the top right corner of one of your ribbons and connect it to the bottom left corner of the other. Do this oppositely too (from left top to bottom right) and to the other ribbon. Use your outer 2x6cm rectangles to do all four corners of the ribbon. Make sure the ribbons look even and cut them out.
Glue the two ribbons together then onto the card stock paper in whatever fashion you please. Lastly hot glue your emblem and pleat combo on top of the ribbon. Repeat these steps for however many ribbons and you're done! Looks great on different colors!
